The World of Bees

Tiny beings that sustain life on Earth.

What would our table be without bees?
More than just honey, they are responsible for pollinating most of the food that reaches our plate.
Protecting bees means protecting life and the future of us all.

Bees teach us that every action matters. Your visit is also part of this story.

Breakfast

Breakfast without flavour

Without bees, bread would be scarce, jam would disappear and even honey would cease to exist.
Our breakfast would never taste the same.

Market

A market without colours

Without bees, fruit and vegetable stalls would be almost empty.
The colours that brighten our eyes today would give way to a bleak grey.

Coffee & Chocolate

Coffee without aroma

Without pollination, there would be no coffee or cocoa.
Imagine starting the day without the smell of coffee or the pleasure of a square of chocolate.

All of this depends on bees working silently every day.
Without them, our lives would completely change.

Queen – Only one per hive. She lives up to 5 years and lays up to 2,000 eggs a day. She is the heart of the colony.

🐝 Workers – The most numerous. They feed the queen, care for the larvae, build honeycombs, collect pollen and nectar. They are the invisible force that keeps everything alive.

🪰 Drones – The males of the hive. Their only mission is to fertilize a queen. They do not produce honey, have no sting, and live only a few months.

It is not enough to admire what they give us.
Each of us can take action to protect them.

Plant native flowers in different

seasons.

Avoid pesticides during blooming.

Leave patches of bare soil and

hollow stems

.

In your garden and home

Mow the lawn less often.

Reduce artificial light at night.

Buy local and sustainable products.

Buy only what you need, reduce waste.

Choose quality over quantity.

Ask yourself: “What was the cost to the planet?”

Support local markets and

beekeepers.

Report sightings of the Asian hornet.

Support pollinator-friendly city projects.

Every daily choice decides whether bees (and we) will have a future.

The Society of Bees

To understand how to help them, we must first know how they live in community.

Each hive is an organized world, where every being has its mission.

Life at the Heart of the Hive

In the heart of the comb, the queen carefully lays one egg in each cell, ensuring the future of the colony.

In the hive, nothing is left to chance: each cell has its place and function.

  • Brood area 🥚 → where the queen lays eggs and larvae grow.

  • Pollen storage 🌸 → protein reserve, essential food for larvae.

  • Honey storage 🍯 → energy for the whole colony, especially in winter.

  • Queen’s space 👑 → the colony’s vital nucleus, always protected by worker bees.

  • This ceaseless cycle is the driving force of the hive:
It ensures the renewal, strength, and continuity of the community.

The Cycle and the Hive

The invisible organization of the hives depends on the visible biodiversity of the world around us.

Ciclo de vida da abelha

  • Egg → laid by the queen, inside wax cells.

  • Larva → fed with royal jelly in the first days, then honey and pollen.

  • Pupa → the cell is capped, metamorphosis occurs in silence.

  • Adult bee → emerges ready for its role.

The Hive: A Living City

Each space has its function, and all together maintain perfect order.

In the hive there is no waste: each cell, each space, each bee has its function.

The Future of Bees is Our Future

Bees play an essential role in the pollination of most cultivated and wild plants.
Without them, we would lose not only fruits, vegetables, and seeds, but also the balance that sustains ecosystems.

Their preservation depends on conscious choices: in the garden, at home, in what we consume, and within our communities.
Every action matters to ensure that future generations inherit a fertile and healthy planet.

Protecting bees is protecting life on Earth.
